Scottsdale to Warsaw

Sunday, September 16 - Monday, September 17

Our sweet friend Judy Bartle delivered us to Sky Harbor Airport, where we found that access to the main terminal was blocked by lots of police vehicles with lights flashing.  Luckily, our departure was from a smaller terminal and we were unaffected by the delay or cancellation of hundreds of flights caused by a rental car that was left parked in an unauthorized location.

We departed for Houston on time and flew from there to Frankfurt, Germany on an enormous Airbus380, with two decks running the length of the plane, one with 94 rows, the other with 98!  The world's largest passenger plane, it's a behemoth!

From Frankfurt, it was a short hop to Warsaw, Poland.  We arrived about 2:30 and shortly after we checked into an airport hotel, Tom's brother John arrived.  As I write, their sister Vicki is in the city and will soon be joining us here.

We'll pick up a rental car tomorrow, then rendezvous with Vicki's son, Jamie, who's been in Warsaw for a couple of days. Then, we'll all travel to Bialystok to begin the "Roots" journey Vicki has planned out for us.
